Secondary Quests In Novigrad


Suspicious Shakedown

Location: Gate of the Hierarch

Head over to the south of Gate of the Hierarch and you’ll come across a small group of bandits harassing a merchant.

You can either cut down all the bandits in the area or use Axii (level 2 needed) to make yourself a bit more convincing. Whatever you decide, speak with the merchant afterward to conclude the suspicious shakedown quest.


Karmic Justice

Location: Tretogor Gate

Head to the alleyway between Tretogor and Southern Gate during night time and you’ll come across a couple of Scoia’tael beating up a merchant. It’s your choice to either free the merchant or let them beat him up. However, if you help the merchant, you’ll receive some Crowns as a reward. Later on, this merchant will be in the city selling goods, but there’s nothing worthwhile that you can’t purchase elsewhere.


Message from an Old Friend

Location: Hierarch Square

Head inside Books and Scrolls in the northern part of Hierarch Square and speak with Marcus. After you speak with him, you can either loot all his books or the one that the owner mentioned. And that’s it, all you need to do to complete this simple message from an old friend quest.

 


Drunken Rabble

Location: The Golden Sturgeon

While roaming in Novigrad’s poorer areas, you’ll come across some drunkards who will demand some of your coins. If you refuse them, they’ll get mad and a fistfight begins. Defeat them to complete the drunken rabble quest. If somehow they manage to defeat you, you’ll wake up near a gutter with a small amount of your coin missing.


The Flame of Hatred

Location: Hierarch Square

Roaming Hierarch Square you’ll come across a Preacher mouthing off about witchers. Approach and speak with the Preacher of the Eternal Fire. At this point, you can either mock the man and ask him to leave the city or leave him be. If you, however, decide to threaten him; his hired mob will confront you later down the road. If this happens, do what Witchers do best and slay them down to conclude the flame of hatred quest.


Witch Hunter Raids

Location: Glory Gate

Walking towards Glory Gate, you’ll come across Remi Villeroy’s house and two Witch Hunters banging on his door. You need to intervene and help the Mage defeat the two Witch Hunters, who then rewards you for your troubles – the witch hunter raids quest then concludes.


Racist of Novigrad (I and II)

Location: Novigrad

Head over to North of Portside Gate to find a female elf being harassed by a group of bandits. You can either side with bandits or save the female elf. After saving the female elf, head over to Southeast of Tretogor Gate and you’ll come across another elf about to take a beating. Once again you can either save the elf or be on your way.


The Dwarven Document Dilemma

Location: Seven Cats Inn

Speak with Rostan Muggs located near Tretogor and agree to help him get his documents back. Using your Witcher’s Sense to follow the trail down the hill you’ll end up at the Seven Cats Inn. Once you’re inside, speak with Gerd and choose between using your Axii Sign, playing a round of Gwent, or engage in a Fistfight. Once you’ve acquired the desired paperwork, head back to Muggs and conclude the dwarven document dilemma quest.


Black Pearl

Location: The Golden Sturgeon

To start this quest, you need to speak with the soldier named Nidas near the Golden Sturgeon. Once you agree to help him, meet him near Arinbjorn in Skellige. After you meet up with the man, follow him to find the Black Pearl he’s after. Once there you need to dive down into the water and use your Witcher’s Senses to acquire the Black Pearl. After you’ve acquired the pearl, head back to the shore and you’ll find Nidas being attacked by Drowners. After you save him, meet the man at the Golden Sturgeon to receive your reward.


A Feast for Crows

Location: Gate of the Hierarch

Head to the small stone bridge north of the Gate of Hierarch. Once there, use your Witcher’s Senses to follow the trail. You’ll eventually reach a corpse, examine it and loot the key. Use your Witcher’s Senses once again to follow the trail of the murderer into a wooden hut. Once you head inside, you can either leave the bandits or slay them all followed by using the key on a chest to find the Hidden Treasure. A Feast for Crows will then be complete.


Hey, you wanna loot at my stuff?

Location: Hierarch Square

Head to the Northwest Harbor and speak with a Halfling Merchant in the area. Once the Witch Hunter patrol arrives, you can either uncover the true identity of the Halfling Merchant or lie to them. If you choose to lie, use your Witcher Senses to track down the merchant and speak with him to conclude the quest – the merchant will only become available if you don’t reveal him!


Strumpet in Distress

Location: Novigrad Docks

Go to the Novigrad docks, once there you’ll notice a woman being threatened by a hooded man. Speak to the woman and she will tell you that she can handle herself. You can either use your Axii sign (Level 2) on the hooded man, threaten him normally, or leave as the woman said. Any option you choose ends up revealing that the man was acting with the strumpet and you killed his mood, the prostitute ends up not getting paid.

 


Warehouse of Woe

Location: Portside Warehouse

Head to the Portside Warehouse (Warehouse of woe) in the Harborside District and you’ll come across two traders blaming each other for having a monster inside the warehouse. Agree to slay the monster and head inside to find a Nekker. Once you slay the monster, use your Witcher Senses around you to uncover that the Dwarf brought in the monster. You can choose to either tell the merchants or remain quiet and just accept your reward.


A Walk on the Waterfront

Location: Novigrad Docks

On the western side of south docks in Novigrad, you’ll come across a nobleman threatened by a couple of bandits. You need to act quickly and intervene before they gut him out. Once you’ve killed the bandits, agree to escort the nobleman to his destination. A little further down the road, you’ll be attacked again throughout the quest, Once you arrive at the destination the nobleman meets with his trader, you’ll then have a little choice to make. Doing so will earn you a reward and conclude the walk on the waterfront quest.


Never Trust Children

Location: Hierarch Square

You’ll come across a crying child outside Triss’ Hideout. If you try to speak with him, he’ll just run away. Follow the boy and you’ll end up running into a trap! he’ll call out to 4 bandits to ambush you. Unfortunately, for the bandits, the fight shouldn’t be too hard for you. Slay all the bandits to conclude the quest. And yes I know what you’re thinking but no, you won’t find the boy anywhere.

The Nobleman Statuette

Location: Novigrad Merchant

Speak with the merchant in front of Gildorf Square Noticeboard to start this quest. He will persuade you to buy a collection of statuette artifacts belonging to a Mage named Aeramas. You need to buy the item to proceed through the quest. After acquiring the item, Go see Triss in her hideout and ask her to analyze the artifact, Once complete the nobleman statuette quest will end.


The Soldier Statuette

Location: Caesar’s House

While playing Secondary Quest: A Dangerous Game, Caesar Bilzen will hand you over a strange Jade Figurine statuette which you need to take to Triss. After acquiring the item, Go see Triss in her hideout and ask her to analyze the artifact. Once complete, the soldier statuette quest will end.


Of Dairy and Darkness

Location: Novigrad Merchant & Abandoned Manor

Start this quest from the same merchant that sells you the artifact for The Nobleman Statuette quest, located in front of Gildorf Square Noticeboard. He will try to persuade you to buy the collection of artifacts belonging to a Mage named Aeramas, you need to buy all the items to proceed through the quest. Head over to Aeramas’s Abandoned Manor and search the area using your Witcher Senses, examine the magical circle and head inside the portal. Once you arrive in the dungeon, climb the staircase and enter another portal. Swim through the flooded chamber and use your Witcher Senses to reach Aeramas’s Laboratory and loot everything inside. Locate the statue on Aeramas’s Desk to conjure up yet another portal and go through it to reach the Last Chamber. Finally, use your Igni Sign to interact with a pyramid on the right-hand side and then use your Eye of Nehaleni to uncover a similar pyramid on its opposite side. Loot the treasure and teleport back to land to conclude of diary and darkness quest.


Fencing Lessons

Location: Var Attre Residence, Seven Cats Inn, Tretogor Gate

Head over to Guard Captain at the Var Attre Residence and meet up with Rosa near the Temple Bridge. Find and defeat Rosa after which she will disappear. Use your Witcher Senses to locate her again near the Seven Cats Inn and you’ll see her being harassed by two drunkards. At this point, you can either use Axii, your sword, or coin which ultimately will all end up sending off the drunkards and conclude the fencing lessons quest.


Hidden Messages of the Nilfgaardian Kind

Location: Hierarch Square, Crippled Kate’s

Head northeast from the Kingfisher Inn and you’ll come across a couple of strange men examining an area. Once the men run away, use your Witcher Senses to locate a loose brick and read the note hidden inside. After reading the note, head to next objective area in Crippled Kate’s. Use your Witcher Senses to locate a couple of prizes scattered in this area and reach the final objective area to obtain some goodies off a corpse in a dungeon to conclude the hidden messages of the nilfgaardian kind quest.


A Barnful of Trouble

Location: Carsten

Head near the barricaded windmill and agree to help the nearby peasants by getting rid of some Ghouls roaming inside the structure. After slaying all the Ghouls inside, you can examine the area to reveal that some peasants murdered a couple bandits a few days back. It’s completely up to you whether you wish to reveal this or not, either way, you’ll receive your payment and conclude the barnful of trouble quest.


Empty Coop

Location: Yanina’s Cottage

Head just east of Honeyfill Meadworks and look around for a rambling old woman. Offer to help her, and use your Witcher Senses to follow the tracks to their final destination. Once there speak to the children then return to the old woman and convince her that the children should come and live with her, doing so will conclude the empty coop quest.


Little Red

Location: Yantra

Head to Yantra, a small village between two lakes and to the north east of Novigrad. Around noon you’ll see a bunch of villagers gathered at one end of the village having a meeting. Ask them what troubles them, they’ll tell you they’re having bandit trouble with a girl named Little Red. Agree to help them and head to the center of the village and Meditate til dusk. Little Red will appear and you can choose to either stand down or tell her to get away from the innocent villagers. She will then transform into a werewolf and you’ll have to slay her along with her bandit companions to conclude the secondary quest.


Novigrad Hospitality

Location: Beanston

To start this secondary quest you need to speak with Victor and Gascogne on the road between Beanston and Chateau Sarrasin. You’ll get to a little drinking and eventually you’ll pass out waking up to find out that they have taken all your equipment. Use your Witcher Senses to track them down and get revenge, punish them by robbing them of their clothes to conclude the Novigrad Hospitality quest.

 


Spooked Mare

Location: Crossroads

Head to the riverside just north of Crossroads and speak with a man whose horse had run off. Agree to help the poor man and use your Witcher Senses to track down the horse’s hoofprints which will eventually lead you to a group of Scoia’tael. After speaking with the Scoia’tael Commander, you can choose to either start a fight or pay 100 Crowns to buy the horse from him. Once you’ve retrieved the horse, use your Axii Sign to calm it down and return it to its owner.


Strangers in the Night

Location: Carsten

Head west out of Carsten, cross a small bridge and head north. You’ll come across a small campsite with some people having a conversation. Join in, tell them your name, and then ask if there’s any news. a fight will break out. Suddenly the conversation turns to accusations, and a brawl will break out. Pick whatever side you choose but either way, you’ll be rewarded with a diagram.


A Warm Welcome

Location: Dragonslayer’s Grotto

On the road southwest of Wheatfield, you’ll come across a fight between some Redanian Soldiers and refugees. After the dialogue, you can either pay the guards 100 Crowns to let the refugee pass, use Axii Sign (Level 2), kill the guards or just leave the refugees to sort it out themselves. If you provide them with help, you’ll be rewarded with a location of a treasure trove near Downwarren.

Secondary Quests In Velen

 


Mans Best Friend

Location: Inn at the Crossroads

Head along the path between the Inn at the Crossroads and Border Post, you’ll come across a Farmer’s Hut. Slay the Wild Dog outside and knock the hut’s door to find a group of kids alone who haven’t eaten in days. You can either ignore them and be on your way or show some humanity by giving them some crowns or Food to complete the man’s best friend quest.


Thou Shalt Not Pass

Location: Oxenfurt, Western Gate

If you head to the bridges across Pontar River, you’ll notice that both of them are closed. However, if you speak to any of the Redanian Guards stationed there, they’ll tell you that a Permission Pass is required to cross to the other side. In order to acquire the pass, you need to complete the secondary quest Fake Papers which is further down this guide.

 


The Volunteer

Location: Oxenfurt, White Eagle Camp

Along the Pontar River, you’ll come across a camp of wrecked boats with a Troll near it. After a hilarious conversation with the Troll, you can either give him some paint to mark the Redanian territory for any Deserters or just kill him, either one completes the quest. The paint is at the general store in Whitebridge, note that you’ll only be able to purchase the paint during the daytime.


Hazardous Goods

Location: Lanka Estate, Reardon Manor

Near the southern riverside, you’ll come across a man being attacked by a bunch of Ghouls. Quickly slay the Ghouls, speak with Gert Borel and use your Igni Sign to burn his cart to ashes. A few days later, you’ll run into the same man east of Reardon Manor. This time he’ll be suffering from Black Pox, end his suffering by burning him to complete the hazardous goods quest.


Witcher Wannabe

Location: Lindenvale

In Lindenvale an old man will harass you about your kind. You’ll soon find out that another “witcher” is in the area, use your Witcher Senses to locate this so-called “witcher” in the cemetery. Kill the Ghoul in your way and you’ll see someone hiding near a coffin. Pretending to be a witcher, he begs you to keep it a secret and that he won’t do it again. You can either reveal his identity or leave him be to complete the witcher wannabe quest.

 


Looters (II)

Location: Codger’s Quarry

You’ll come across six peasants looting fallen corpses. You can either ignore them or kill them to conclude the quest. If you didn’t kill them, a little later on you’ll run into them being attacked by Ghouls.


Looters (III)

Location: Toderas

Like the first two Looter quests, you’ll find more looters in Toderas. again choose to either kill or leave them be to conclude the looters III quest.


Blood Ties

Location: Nilfgaardian Central Army Camp

Speak with the Noblewoman and offer to find her missing son. Head over to the Quartermaster in the nearby Nilfgaardian Army Camp and question him about her son. At this point, you’ll have several options:

– Offer him 100 Crowns as Bribe
– Use Axii Level 2 Delusion on him
– Complete Patrol Gone Missing before talking to him

After learning about his whereabouts, head over to the area and use your witcher Senses to identify Cavalry Tracks, Dog Tracks, Human Remains, and some Corpses. Return to the mother and tell her that her son died in battle.


Lynch Mob

Location: Near Hangman’s Alley

You’ll come across a group of bandits holding a Nilfgaardian Soldier captive. You can either leave the soldier to be tortured or slay all the bandits and free him.


Loves Cruel Snares

Location: Condyle

Speak with the weeping girl in the northeast of Condyle and agree to help her find her fiancé. Use your Witchers Senses to find his footprints, you’ll find out that her fiancé had been ripped apart by some wild dogs. slay the wild dogs and break the news to the weeping girl.


Deadly Crossing (II)

Location: Lindenvale

Head west of Mulbrydale and a little north of Lindenvale to come across some guards blocking your passage. You can either use axii, pay them 525 Crowns, or slaughter your way through. If you decide to pay them 525 Crowns, you’ll receive a weapon called Mourner.


Deadly Crossing (III)

Location: Dragonslayer Grotto

Head west of Dragonslayer Grotto and you’ll come across some Nekkers and Deserters in the area. Simply kill them all to complete the deadly crossing quest.


A Dog’s Life

Location: Drudge

Head northwest of Drudge and you’ll come across some stray wolves gathering around a small pup. After helping him, the dog will begin following you around. Head southeast and you’ll have to fight a small group of bandits. Note that the dog can be killed during this fight. Afterward use your witcher senses to find the guarded treasure which can be unlocked using the key hung around dog’s neck.


Highwayman’s Cache

Location: Boatmaker’s Hut

You’ll come across 3 Bandits near the Wooden Bridge who demand your coin for the passage across the bridge. You can either start a fight with them or just tell them you’re Geralt of Rivia which forces them to retreat. After passing through, use your Witcher Senses near the bonfire by the Bridge Entrance which will lead you to hidden treasure.


A Greedy God

Location: Wastrel Manor

The Eye of Nehaleni is required for this quest. Head over to the southern edge of Wastrel Manor and speak with the two peasants there. Head over to the objective area and use the Eye of Nehaleni to reveal some hidden steps. You’ll reveal that the “god” is just a demon feasting off the offerings. There’re a few choices to pick from but none of the options change your reward.

 


Harassing a Troll

Location: Inn at the Crossroads

Head northwest from the Inn at the Crossroads and you’ll run into a bunch of Nekkers swarming a Rock Troll. Slay the Nekkers and speak with Boris the Troll to complete the harassing a troll quest.


At the Mercy of Strangers

Location: West of Mulbrydale near Inn at the Crossroads

Head west from Mulbrydale and you’ll come across some drowners and wolves near the riverside. Slay them and proceed with your Witcher Senses. You’ll reach a man named John Verdun, you can either untie him or leave him to rot there. If freed you’ll find him northwest of the Border Post.


Bitter Harvest

Location: Scavenger Camp near the Border Post

Talk to a man named Albin Hart and agree to protect survivors from Ghouls. You’ll have to fight off waves of monsters and keep them alive to get your reward.


Caravan Attack

Location: Marauder’s Bridge

Head west of Marauder’s Bridge and you’ll come across a group of bandits attacking a couple of merchants. Simply kill the bandits and speak with the merchants to receive your reward.


Death by Fire

Location: Codgers’ Quarry

Near Codgers’ Quarry, you’ll see smoke rising in the distance. Head towards it to see some bandits trying to burn an elf. You can either ignore the situation and be on your way or help free the elf and fight the remaining enemies. She will thank you and tell you about some hidden treasure nearby.


Fake Papers

Location: Scavenger Camp, Border Post

Head over to the south of the river near the Redanian Border Post and speak with Shady Merchant near the campfire. After speaking with him, pay him 100 Crowns or use your Axii to lower the price.


Funeral Pyres

Location: Border Post, Mulbrydale

Speak with a Priest of Eternal Fire near west of Mulbrydale who will ask you to put some rotting corpses to rest. Head to each objective area, tip the oil the priest gave you on the corpses and use your igni sign to burn them. While burning the corpses, you’ll come across an alive man who will tell you about the Priest’s real intentions. Return to the Priest and either choose to keep quiet and accept your reward or kill the Priest and his bodyguards.


The Truth is in the Stars

Location: Benkelham, Dragonsroot Cave

Speak with the Old Sage beside the large windmill and give him something to eat. After inquiring about your future, the Old Sage will ask you to bring some Dragonsroot. Head towards the objective area and go inside the cavern. Once inside use your Witchers Senses to locate the Dragonsroot and return it to the Old Sage to complete the truth is in the stars quest.

 


Looters (I)

Location: Velen Highway

While journeying along Velen Highway, you’ll come across a small group of bandits looting corpses. You can either leave them be and be on your way or engage them. Nothing interesting or loot worth mentioning here, just some bandits.


Highway Robbery

Location: Boatmakers’ Hut

Just south of Crows Perch you’ll come across a trader being attacked by a group of bandits. You can choose to help him and get rid of the bandits or allow them to kill and loot him. If you end up choosing to save him he’ll show up in a few days inside Crows Perch as an extra merchant.


Face me if you Dare

Location: Bridge into Crows Perch

You’ll come across a man who will challenge you to a single combat duel, he’s completely inexperienced so this shouldn’t be a problem. You’ll come across him again later in the game in Novigrad acting tough, This time he will lunge at you with a shield and a sword. Like before, defeat him and send him on his way. A couple of days later, you’ll again find him but on the west side of the city. At this point, you can either kill him and his buddies or use your Axii Sign (Level 2) to send them home.


Forefathers Eve

Location: Outside Keira Metz cottage after completing A Towerful of Mice

Speak with the Peller about a ritual and head over to the location, protect the Peller and the participants from unholy spirits as he performs the ritual. just before the ritual completes you’ll be disturbed by Witch Hunters. At this point, you can tell the Peller that this is not your fight and conclude the quest or tell the Witch Hunters to stand down. If you decide to fight Witch Hunters, you’ll also have to deal with three Wraiths appearing on the ritual. Once you’ve dealt with them, burn Peller’s father corpse using your Igni Sign. Peller will thank you and now sell you herbs and other merchandise with a discount.


Defender of the Faith (I)

Location: Road heading east from Blackbough or Hillside Shrine of Duen Hen in The Mire

You’ll come across a woman ranting about blasphemous acts and broken shrines. If you agree to help her fix the shrines, you need to locate and lift the wooden statues upright. The shrines can be found in the following areas:

– Hillside Shrine of Duen Hen in The Mire
– Road heading east from Blackbough
– Southwestern edge of Velen, near the southeast side of Byways Signpost

After fixing the final shrine, you’ll come across the vandals. You can either let them continue vandalizing the statues and consequently failing the quest. Or rather threaten them to stop and fix the statue to complete the quest.


Last Rites

Location: Blackbough

An Old Woman will call for your help in the northern part of Blackbough. Head over towards her husband’s grave and use your Witcher Senses to find the gravestone. Once you’ve located the grave use Keira’s Magic Lamp to reunite the two souls. Once completed, head back into Blackbough and find the Old Woman’s granddaughter Lessy to collect your reward.


Deadly Crossing (I)

Location: Troll Bridge

Head towards the Troll Bridge and you’ll come across a group of bandits blocking your path. You have several choices, pay the toll, use your Axii sign (Level 2) or simply slaughter them and be on your way.


Wild at Heart

Location: Blackbough

After reading the Area Noticeboard in Crows Perch, speak with a hunter named Niellen. He’ll ask you to help find his wife, you’ll have two objectives: asking the neighbors if they’ve seen Hanna and searching for her in the woods using your Witcher Senses. Once you’ve looked around you’ll be approached by Niellen’s sister-in-law who will ask you to stop the search and tell Niellen she’s dead. Pick one of the following.

– Lie to Niellen about finding his wife and receive 65 Crowns
– Receive 55 Crowns from Niellen’s sister-in-law and continue your search
– Refuse Niellen’s sister-in-law outrightly and continue your search

Secondary Quests In Kaer Morhen

 


Bastion

Location: Kaer Morhen Keep

Before you start this quest, you need to acquire the Magic Lamp from Keira Metz. After you’ve acquired the Magic Lamp, use it nearby the Keep to find a missing boy. You need to head southeast of Bastion Tower and climb the wooden steps there.

After going up, head north near the battlements and up the small ladder. Gather the boy’s remains and head back to your initial position, You’ll need to fight a couple of Wraiths. After fending off the Wraith attack, burn the boy’s remains to conclude the Quest.


Berengar’s Blade

Location: Kaer Morhen, Chort’s Cave

After looking at Berengar’s notes, speak with Vesemir who will tell you about Berengar forging a powerful blade and went hunting a Chort with it. After speaking with Vesemir, leave Kaer Morhen and head to the new objective area. Once you’re inside the cave you’ll be face to face with a Chort, use your Quen Sign to make the fight a tad easier. After you’ve defeated the monster, use your Witcher Senses to locate a Diagram and leave the area to conclude the quest.


Monster Slayer

Location: Lakeside Hut

Head towards the Lakeside Hut and examine the corpses. From there, head northeast and look for a small triangle-shaped island on your World Map. Head towards the cave on the eastern side. Once you’re inside, you’ll come across a giant Rock Troll. Defeat the Rock Troll and use your Witcher’s Senses to find some valuable loot lying in the cave.


Greenhouse Effect

Location: Old Mine, Ancient Greenhouse

You need to acquire the Eye of Nehaleni before you start this quest. Head south from the Iron Mine and you’ll discover a cavern entrance. Head inside the cavern and use the Eye of Nehaleni to reveal a strange rock. interacting with it will reveal a hidden book. After reading the book, you must calm the weather by interacting with the rocks.


The Witchers Forge

Location: Kaer Morhen, Old Mine

You need to acquire a book inside a chest near the middle of the 3 archway alcoves near the spiral staircase. You’ll also need to have obtained the Eye of Nehaleni for this quest. Finally, read the book and head towards the Old Mine near Kaer Morhen. Once you head inside, you’ll have to deal with an Earth Elemental.

After slaying the Earth Elemental, explore the area and you’ll come across an Ifrit. Dealing with the monster and use your Eye of Nehaleni to remove the illusion near the objective area to complete the quest.


Trail of Echoes

Location: Kaer Morhen

Simply head northwest from Kaer Morhen and you’ll come across a cave entrance. Head inside the tunnels and you’ll come across 4 Nekker roaming about the area. Slay them and use your Witcher senses to uncover some valuable items lying around.
