Ronda Rousey Is the voice of Sonya Blade In Mortal Kombat XI

NetherRealm studios recently revealed gameplay for Mortal Kombat XI. During the live stream event. Showcasing what’s coming to the next heart-pumping arcade game. Among the announcements from Creative Director Ed Boon. It was revealed that the great Ronda Rousey, current WWE Women’s Champion. Is the voice behind the veteran fighter, Sonya Blade.

Sonya Blade is one of the original characters in Mortal Kombat. Ronda Rousey actually teased the voice-over role on Twitter days before the announcement.

The invitation I’ve been waiting to accept my whole life. Don’t worry, Earthrealm is safe with me 😉 Can’t wait for Thursday! I’ll be there #MK11 @netherrealm— Ronda Rousey (@RondaRousey) January 16, 2019

“Even though I loved playing Princess Kitana, because you got that crouch-down and punch-up cheat on the Sega Genesis, I think that I would be much better cast as Sonya Blade,” Rousey said last year. “My personality is much more similar to hers, and my look and demeanor. I feel like I could much easier slip into the mindset and skin of Sonya Blade than someone like Kitana. I don’t really feel like I could be the royalty-type very well. I couldn’t really do royalty. It’d take a lot of studying. I think it would just be a lot easier and more natural to be Sonya Blade.”

Ronda has always been passionate about her love for video games. The Mortal Kombat character Sonya Blade is a perfect fit for Rousey and her kickass attitude. UFC hall of famer Ronda Rousey had been preparing for the role as Sonya Blade for awhile before it was announced. Including her love for Sonya Blade’s rolling armbar move. Which Rousey can actually perform in real-life.
