As suspected, Red Dead Redemption 2 confirmed by Rockstar Games this week to release in Spring 2018. Previously Red Dead Redemption 2’s release date was Fall 2017 but many expected that date to change. That’s great news for MMORPG Wild West Online which was recently confused for Red Dead Redemption 2 and launches in 2017.

Rockstar Games confirmed this latest Red Dead Redemption 2 news on their website in a blog post announcement detailing why the launch moved to Spring 2018.

This outlaw epic set across the vast and unforgiving American heartland will be the first Rockstar game created from the ground up for the latest generation of console hardware, and some extra time is necessary to ensure that we can deliver the best experience possible for our fans.

We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready.

Fair reasons for delaying a game and I think most gamers would agree the best choice. Players opinions together with the internet are brutal these days when it comes to new games and any mistakes. It’s only smart to delay your game and bring it up to standard before tarnishing your reputation. Red Dead Redemption is one of the most loved Western games out there. Only rivaled by a few other Western games like Call of Juarez and potentially new MMORPG Wild West Online.

The news is pretty quiet on the Red Dead Redemption 2 Reddit. But that’s no surprise as many are disappointed with the delay. The release date is also confirmed to happen within Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two Interactive’s 2019 financial year. Consequently, PC players could be waiting as long as March 2019 to see Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Currently, Amazon has Red Dead Redemption 2 listed to release on December 31, 2018, but that is likely to get an update.

While both console and PC players wait until Spring 2018 for Red Dead 2, Rockstar released new screenshots. Not the most exciting replacement but the screenshots do look pretty great. Perhaps we’ll get lucky and see something better like another RDR2 trailer at E3 in June. Check out the Red Dead Redemption 2 leaked map, trailer, and new screenshots below.
