Project Wight is a Viking role-playing game currently in development by a small team of veteran game developers calling themselves The Outsiders.

The Outsiders is a small independent studio from Stockholm that comprises of only 12 people. Some of which have previously worked on various big titles such as Payday 2 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

The game is about “seeing the world from the view of the hunted rather than the hunter” according to The Outsiders CEO Ben Cousins. The game is still in the very early stages of development, but the studio recently released a brilliant sneak peek of the game in action.

In Project Wight, the player will be in control of an intelligent monster whose race is on the verge of extinction thanks to us human beings. You’ll start off as just a small monster in search of its parents. As you watch the video unfold you see your father being tortured by humans. As you grow through the slaughter of those who slew your father, you’ll evolve into different phases enabling you to, climb, glide huge distances and more.

“I always side with the monster and the underdog,” says studio co-founder David Goldfarb. “This is a way to invert the traditional idea of being a hero” he explained.

Project Wight in development

Project Wight is currently just a codename for the game and no release date has been decided yet. The game is being developed in Unity by the team who wants to prove that the engine is more than capable of creating an AAA-scaled product.
