Pokemon GO 2nd gen

This December, Pokemon Go fans will be seeing lots of exciting events and game updates. In November, Trainers got to have fun with Double-XP events. October brought the Halloween event, which delivered more spawns of Ghost-type Pokemon and double candies. Trainers had a chance to finally catch some of those more elusive night-time Pokemon like Gastly and Gengar.

Niantic also recently introduced experience streaks for catching Pokemon and getting Pokestops, encouraging players to get outside regularly again. This new feature is a daily bonus that rewards extra XP and Stardust for the first Pokemon caught each day. When spinning a Pokestop for the first time of the day, Trainers will receive extra items. As it turns out, encouraging players to get outside more often again was great preparation for December’s events!

Features and events in December:

  • Players are able to transfer multiple Pokemon to Professor Oak at once. To do this, press and hold on a Pokemon.
  • 100 new Generation 2 Pokemon will be released December 12th.
  • Possible increase of Ice-type Pokemon spawns.
  • Reducing the number of steps required to get a buddy candy.
  • Sprint becomes the first official partner and Sprint, Boost Mobile, and Sprint at Radioshack stores become Pokestops and Gyms (U.S only).
  • Starbucks becomes an official partner and introduce a special edition Pokemon Go Frappuccino® and become Pokestops and Gyms (U.S only).

Pokemon Go’s first Partnerships add additional Pokestops and Gyms

Niantic is really heating things up after a decline in Trainers earlier this year by rolling out regular events. Their partnership with Sprint will see an additional 10,500 Pokestops and Gyms added for Trainers in the United States.

The United States will also see 7,800 Starbucks stores become Pokestops and Gyms, as well as experience their new Pokemon Go themed Frappucino. Starbucks and Sprint locations in the U.S will all have charging stations for Pokemon Go player’s devices.

Rare and Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Go

Last month, Niantic surprised us by releasing Ditto into the wild unannounced. Ditto has been caught hiding in low CP Pidgey, Rattata, Magikarp, and other common Pokemon. Ditto reveals itself in a similar way to eggs hatching after capturing a common Pokemon. Once revealed to you as Ditto, other Pokemon Go Trainers will also be able to see the Ditto. When seen in a Gym, Ditto will copy the first Pokemon it sees and keeps that form until the battle ends.

Now there is speculation that new legendary Pokemon such as Articuno and Mewtwo will be secretly released this month. Time Square is looking like a popular location on New Year’s Eve where Trainers have seen a Pokemon Go advertisement featuring Mewtwo. However, there has been no official announcement on this from Niantic yet.

Trainers will have to wait until December 12th for more details on the Generation 2 drop of 100 new Pokemon. Players will also be waiting to see if rumors are confirmed about trainer-vs-trainer PvP battle.
