It seems Pokemon GO players have finally figured out how to control Eevee's evolution into Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon. Eevee brothers are an easter egg

After many theory tests and failures, it seems Pokemon GO players have finally figured out how to control Eevee’s evolution into Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon.

The Pokemon GO craze is still in full force weeks after the initial game launch and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. Players are hellbent on discovering all of Pokemon GO’s secrets. No one has found a legendary Pokemon just yet but players are going crazy on finding out how to control the evolution of Eevee. The latest rumor with forcing Eevee’s evolution going around has been tested thoroughly and has yet to fail so far.

Original many players thought that Eevee would evolve based on her secondary attack. After awhile though this theory proved to be incorrect. Another theory was the evolution would correlate to the color of the closest gym when she evolves, but this was proven false also.

So far the best theory on how to control Eevee’s evolution into Vaporeon, Jolteon or Flareon is with an easter egg referencing the original anime series of Pokemon. The Pokemon cartoon features the Eevee brothers Pyro, Sparky, and Rainer. Niantic has inserted a cool reference to the trio in Pokemon GO to control the evolution of Eevee.

How To Control Eevee’s Evolution

Here’s how it works so far, open up the menu and select the Eevee that you plan to evolve. Click the edit button next to Eevee’s name and change it to the appropriate name of one of the Eevee brothers. For example, if you want to evolve Eevee into Vaporeon, change the nickname to Rainer.

Pyro = Flareon
Sparky = Jolteon
Rainer = Vaporeon

Be sure to check that you match it exactly and capitalize the first letter also.

Restart The Game

Once you’ve renamed Eevee to the name of your choice, close the game down completely and restart it. This is only an optional step but we recommend it considering the servers are still new and unstable.

Now Evolve Your Eevee

Now that you’ve completed these steps simply evolve your Eevee. We’ve tested this out several times with every evolution and have had a 100% success rate so far. Some reddit users have reported that it hasn’t worked for them but they had also skipped restarting the game. There’s no official word of confirmation by Niantic just yet but so far it works for alot of Pokemon GO players.
