This Easter, Pokemon Go’s Eggstravaganza 2017 event begins! The Easter event runs for 7 days with a start time of April 13th to April 20th. Pokemon Go trainers will have to work off those chocolate calories by hatching their Pokemon Easter eggs!
Pokemon Go boomed in players at launch but after multiple bad changes to features like the tracking system, there was a slight lull in active trainers. However, it seems the fixes and changes Niantic has recently made to Pokemon Go, namely fixing the tracker and adding trading and battling with other trainers, were enough to keep the game thriving. Moreover, Niantic announced Pokemon Go hit 650 million downloads and still has over 65 million active players monthly. Niantic also won a load of awards for mobile gaming recently thanks to the success of Pokemon Go. In the Niantic Pokemon Go blog, the Niantic Team said
With spring arriving in the northern hemisphere, players can look forward to all new cooperative social gameplay experiences in Pokémon GO that will give Trainers new and exciting reasons to get back into the sunshine.”
Pokemon Go Eggstravaganza Event Details
Pokemon Go’s Easter event is all about eggs and candy as well as exercising those incubators and your Pokemon Go Plus. Trainers will find a larger variety of Pokemon in 2km eggs as well as gen 2 Pokemon hatching from 5km eggs. Every egg you hatch will award more candies than usual though sadly it’s not the double candies seen in the past. Don’t despair though! Hatching eggs also gets trainers double experience and it stacks with the Double XP Eggs. Additionally, Double XP Eggs are 50% off in the store. With this in mind, if you don’t have any saved and you’ve been on top of your gym activity the store special is a good option.
Moreover, many trainers plan to take advantage of the Eggstravaganza event as they do with most events. It is a great time to take advantage of free boosts so to speak and grind XP or candies. There are a few downfalls to grinding too hard though. So, apart from the obvious like wear sunscreen and be aware of your surroundings, take heed of the following advice from Reddit.
- Check dates of your eggs if you want to get rid of old eggs first or only hatch event eggs.
- There is a 24-hour cap of 42 km walking distance after which time your buddy will not gain any more candies. It’s also rumored you can’t hatch any more eggs though counters will still go up.
- Pokemon caught and Pokestops spun have softcaps which can incur a soft ban if reached. Still, it’s not likely for your average player to reach these but don’t exceed 1000 Pokemon caught or 2000 Pokestops spun.
- The 24-hour windows in which resets operate do not reset at midnight.
