PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds getting 2 new maps!

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is still in Early Access on Steam but has already sold over 2 million copies. On top of that massive success, Battlegrounds earned over $11 million USD and is celebrating with a charity drive. Further, in latest PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds news, 2 new maps are in development.

In a GameInformer stream yesterday, Dan Tack stated that 2 new maps are in development for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Previously, it was known 1 new map was in the works but now it’s confirmed 2 maps are coming. One of the maps is a small-scale desert town type of maps for all your cowboy roleplay fantasies. The other map is an island with different temperatures across the island. The island features a mountain, an icy and snowy middle, as well as tempered jungle around the edges. Moreover, more useful features coming to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds are kill-cam and leaderboards.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Charity Invitational and Stream

PlayerUnknown is also known as Brendan Greene, the creator of Battlegrounds and DayZ: BattleRoyale modder. PlayerUnknown has raised $70,000 USD for kids in charity events in Arma 3 in the past. Now, PlayerUnknown and Bluehole Inc. are hosting a charity invitational which features 128 streamers from NA and EU.

The charity streaming event is split into 2 sections and the first 3 matches consist of 64 EU streamers. The remaining 64 NA streamers will play in the next 3 matches. The EU matches begin at 10 AM PDT on May 4th and NA begins at 2 PM PDT. The entire event and matches are viewable on Battlegrounds’ Twitch channel and you can donate to the campaign here.

Speaking of donations, Bluehole Inc. is matching any donations made up to $100,000 so your contribution goes twice as far. Gamers Outreach is the chosen charity supported by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ event. Gamers Outreach support kids and teens in hospitals through providing technology and knowledge to hospital staff and patients undergoing treatment.
