Future plans for Destiny and Character Transfer

Developers spoke about the future of Destiny in a Bungie blog recently and mentioned what sequels represent in their eyes.

Sequels represent the start of a new adventure for every player, with new worlds to explore, new stories to tell, new powers to acquire, new loot to earn, and much more.”

In light of that, Destiny 1 characters will not completely transfer to Destiny 2 as was rumored before. So, although your Destiny 1 power, possessions, currency and Eververse-related items won’t carry over to Destiny 2, you can still access them in the original game.  However, developers also recognize the attachment that so often grows between a player and their toon, so character personalization is being preserved.

Notably, class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections for some characters will carry forward into Destiny 2. In order to achieve that your character must have reached level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission. Adventuring in Destiny 1 won’t go unrewarded either as devs plan to award veteran accounts with honors relating to your Destiny 1 accomplishments.

Destiny 2 pre order packages include Collector’s Edition option

The Destiny 2 Collector’s Edition pre order is already sold out at multiple retailers around the world. It is of course available on Ebay at insanely marked up prices but you might be lucky enough to snag a Collector’s Edition if you look hard enough. News from the Destiny Reddit is that the Collector’s Edition is still available in person at some retailers. GameStop copies come with a limited edition Cayde-6 figure, the character voiced by Nathan Fillion. Amazon does not offer the figure but will guarantee release day delivery.

Collector's Edition Destiny 2

Limited Edition and Deluxe editions are available as well as Base and Expansion version. Of course, you can also buy the Base edition on its own so there’s an option for everyone. Some of the extra goodies in packages include digital content like a legendary sword and emotes.
