E3 2017 is finally here and Activision has big details in store for Call of Duty WW2. In the lead up to E3, Activision and Sledgehammer Games no doubt got hounded with questions. With a November release date, Call of Duty WW2 is not far off and it’s exciting to see the series grounded once again. Now we find the Divisions system we spoke of in the past is completely replacing create-a-class.
Satisfying the hunger of Call of Duty and shooter fans is no easy task. But Co-Founder and Head of Studio for Sledgehammer Games Glen Schofield answered questions for the PlayStation Blog, revealing a few more details about the Divisions system and Call of Duty WW2 multiplayer.
Most notable, Schofield confirmed Call of Duty WW2 would not have the create-a-class system. In its stead, the new system Divisions will allow players to invest in their multiplayer classes in all new ways. Further, players will choose from five well-known World War II Divisions which each feature specific basic training, combat training, and weapon skills. In the past, the Call of Duty WWII reveal show said Divisions types included Infantry, Armored, and Airborne. Schofield said
Divisions fundamentally redefines how players invest in their Multiplayer soldier career…We think it’ll intrigue Call of Duty series veterans, and we can’t wait for our fans to see it for themselves.
The PlayStation blog interview with Schofield also mentioned PvP battles using the new War Mode. As a new multiplayer mode, War Mode will reinforce the importance of teamwork and strategy at war. Fighting for strategic objectives and the asymmetrical narrative-driven Axis vs Allied attack/defend style battle should do just that.
